Denslow is best know as the original illustrator of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." 1899 was the year that he met Frank L. Baum and began work on the illustrations that made him famous. Denslow (1856-1915), born May 5, 1856, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; died May 29, 1915; American illustrator, illustrated the original "The Wizard of Oz" children's books, 1900-1902. Ade (1866-1944), born February 9, 1866, Kentland, Indiana; died May 16, 1944, Brookville, Indiana; American writer/playwright; humorous fables published as "Fables in Slant" 1900..
