Management Evans & . 113 West 57th St. New York"; 8" x 10"; very good. 1939. Signed and inscribed: "To David L Oyser (?) most sincerely Lawrence Tibbett 1939." Tibbett (1896-1960), born November 16, 1896, Bakersfield, California; died July 15, 1960, New York City after surgery; American operatic baritone (born in Bakersfield, California);at the Metropolitan Opera: 1923-1950 where he sang in the Met premieres of "Simon Boccanegra" "Peter Grimes" and "Khovanshchina"; ideal in the operas of Verdi and Puccini; film career: "New Moon" 1930; "The Cuban Love Song" 1931; "The Prodigal" 1931; "Metropolitan" 1935; "Under Your Spell" 1936. One of only five actors to receive an Academy nomination for Best Actor for his first screen appearance for "The Rogue Song" 1930. When he made his Metropolitan Opera in 1923 in "Boris Godounoff", his name on the program was spelled "Tibbett" instead of his real name "Tibbet." The Tibbett spelling was used from that point on..
