("Ernest Torrence") in black fountain pen ink on 1/2 length pose wearing plaid suit and looking into the camera. Photograph is by Melbourne Spurr, Hollywood, with his two line blindstamp in the lower left corner; with rubberstamp on back that reads: "Melbourne Spurr Portraiture" and is on heavy stock; 8" x 10"; very good; ca. 1932. Signed and inscribed: "To Joseph Huntley with best wishes, Ernest Torrence." Torrence (1878-1933), Born June 26, 1878, Edinburgh, Scotland; died May 15, 1933, New York City; Scottish-born stage and silent screen actor and opera performer; played occasional leads and numerous character parts of importance in silents and early talkies; film include: "Peter Pan" 1924, as Captain Hook; "Sherlock Holmes" 1932, as Moriarty; "I Cover the Waterfront" 1933..
