A very fine, as new copy with the original glassine dust wrapper, chemise and slipcase. This is the Book Club's first book to be produced outside of the United States. La Porte De Malétroit is Stevenson's famous tale of medieval France. The book is printed in two colors from Garamond type, and hand-set, on Richard de Bas hand-made paper. The decorations, from woodblocks cut by Ray Bethers are printed in three colors, and consist of four full-page illustrations, together with headband, initials and border. It is bound in the French style with flexible covers and enclosed in an attractive slipcase with title stamped in gold. This was the first book issued by the Club produced outside the United States.
