London (John Wyat), 1701. 8vo. (7 1/2 x 5 inches), reddish brown turkey morocco in a triple panel design with two-line fillet and rolls. The second panel contains ornamental fleurons in the corners from which a single acorn tool is suspended; there are four larger fleurons midway along each side. The innermost panel is intersected at each corner. Spine with five raised bands and closely stamped decoration within the compartments (without title). Board edges gilt decorated, inner gilt dentelles; a.e.g., marbled endleaves (with the bookplate of J. L. Templer, Torrhill, Devon on the pastedown). In ABSOLUTELY FINE condition. First edition of an anonymously published work (Halkett & Laing. Vol. I, p. 11 give a slightly different title and pagination; our copy agrees with the British Library Catalogue). The following year, William Nokes published The Beautiful Pattern and Order of the House of God.
