Ibn Ezra is considered the father of Hebrew grammar, even though he did not create anything new, he collected the conclusions of early grammarians and he wrote in Hebrew making Hebrew grammer more accessable. This work, not the first grammer book written by Ibn Ezra, was the result of a student asking him to do so. This was orginally written between 1146-1147. This editon contains the commentary Mevin Safah by Gabriel Hirsch Lippmann, introduction in German and the novella Sha'ar Binyamin, published here for the first time, a work by Abraham Benjamin Hamburg (1770-1850), German talmudic scholar, whose disciples include Moses Sofer and Seligmann-Baer Bamberger. Signature of Leon Liebreich, late professor of liturgy at Hebrew Union College on top left margin of title page. Hebrew title page with facing German title page. Slight staining and foxing, with small waterstains to few pages. Lacking free rear endpaper. Closed tear on page 46, slightly affecting text. Text in Hebrew, in 'Rashi Script.' Overall in good condition.
