Work on the Jewish prophet Elisha, by renowned British divine John Henry (see below). Age wear and staining to boards, with spine label slightly chipped. Owner's inscription to page preceding title (dated 147). Sporadic foxing, with some minor water marks to bottom of some pages, not affecting text. Otherwise remarkably clean and tight. Very good condition. On the author (Source: Chambers' Cyclopaediae of English Literature. Third Edition. Chambers: London: 1876, p. 660): Henry Blunt (1794-1843) was for several years incumbent of Trinity Church, Chelsea, and was not only a popular preacher but a voluminous author: Some of Mr. Blunt's religious tratises are said to have gone through forty editions in England, besides having a great circulation in America.
