Contemporary full-calf, gilt spine, red spine label. (iv), 357 pages. First edition. Thomas Jefferson purchased his copy (the 1765 edition) from the Henley librar sale in 1785. The book was missing from Jefferson's library when he sold it Congress in 1815, but it was returned without note and now resides in the Library of Congress. Unfortunately Harris is best remembered by a Boswell qu describing him as "a prig and a bad prig." An attractive copy. (Inventory #: 36049)
