A spot or two of foxing, else easily fine in a nice, clean dustwrapper with some stains at the base of the spine, but which would otherwise be fine. Basis for the 1957 film directed by Fred Zinnemann and featuring Don Murray, Eva Marie Saint, and Anthony Franciosa (who was nominated for a best Actor Oscar, but lost to Alec Guiness in *The Bridge on the River Kwai*); also remade for television in 1968 with Sandy Dennis, Michael Parks, and Peter Falk. Perhaps more surprisingly, the author was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Frankie Pentangeli in *The Godfather: Part II.*.
