Cheney. 16mo. [2], v, [1, blank], 35pp. Dark blue cloth, gilt-lettered spine. Spine lightly faded and with 3 minor spots, else a fine copy. The author was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1849. When the second Constitutional Convention was about to be held, Foster, then fifty-eight years old, wrote this account of his trip to Monterey for the original Convention. Foster was a graduate of Yale, Alcalde of Los Angeles. In the fifties, he served as state Senator. He was also the first Superintendent of Schools and inaugurated the public school system in Los Angeles..
