Reprint of the 1922 first edition which was limited to 500 copies. Contains a number of full page plates. Still one of the most exhaustive studies of the printing press and literature of Colonial Maryland. There seems to have been no source that was not carefully investigated. Mr. Wroth has not only assembled all the information that could be obtained about his subject, but has presented it in a most attractive manner. This work will rank as one of the great contributions to the history of colonial American literature. It is also of interest to Virginians as William Nuthead, first printer of Maryland, was probably the same as the William Nulhead or Nuthead who was employed by Buckner when he established the short-lived press at Jamestown. In all 372 items are meticulously described. Includes an index.
