Dr. Alexander Guttmann's signature on inside of front board and on title-page. Minor age-toning along paper margin. Text in German. Binding in overall good-, interior in good to very good condition. Wilhelm Bacher was a 19th and early 20th century Jewish scholar and liberal rabbi. He studied languages at the University of Budapest and later Breslau as well as Talmud with Samuel Löb Brill. Later he served as rabbi in Szegedin. As a scholar Bacher authored or co-authored approximately 750 works. He also contributed to the Jewish Encyclopedia.
