The author's first solo book, Inscribed by him to Henry Nehemiah Dodge, a New Jersey dentist and author who published four volumes of poetry and whose papers are now at the Andover-Harvard Theological Library; on the front pastedown is a bookplate in memoriam of Dr. Dodge (1843-1937). In addition to Dodge's signature, the front fly bears the bookplate of William Efner Wheelock, the author's father. Affixed to the back fly is an envelope addressed to Dodge, containing a promotional sheet for this book and a very warmly written manuscript letter (both pieces Signed), in which Wheelock calls Dodge "a true poet, older in skill and wisdom."
