From Ludwig Edinger, the founder of comparative neuroanatomy, associated with the names "Edinger's tract" (conductive pathway for basic perceptions of pain, temperature, pressure, and touch) and "Edinger-Westphal nucleus" (the accessory nucleus of the 3rd oculomotor nerve). The letter can be translated as follows: "To the renowned Institute for Natural Sciences in Danzig, I am sending my sincere thanks for the honor of having been admitted to the list of corresponding members.
