From Love to War [art bas relief in paper]

A 6 x 11 inch bas relief of molded ivory colored paper against a black background depicting a soldier embracing his wife and departing. Beneath the couple is the embossed inscription: 'From Love to War'. Mounted to the verso are the remains of an old label noting St Louis. The modeling of the figures is quite substantial with a great deal of figurative detail. The relief is appx. a half inch. The lighting was meant to be from the side in order to increase the contrast through shadowing and bring the relief to life. The frame is a turn of the century addition.
