A guide to appropriate behaviors for those involved in active flirtation and seduction, from the chef/owner of Le Grand Vefour, one of the greatest of French restaurants of its day. The virtues include "tact", "discretion", "la pudeur", "la bonne humeur", "patience", and others. Most images are accompanied by a recipe by Oliver on a separate leaf, each with an appropriate wine suggestion. With two engraved bookplates of Raymond Oliver, both by Gautier-Constant, laid-in. In a folding paper folio wrapper, handsomely printed in red. With some age-toning and a small crease to the wrapper, otherwise near fine. Inscribed by Oliver to Samuel Rosenthal on the verso of the folio cover, and with the bookplate of Samuel and Marie-Louise Rosenthal to same. [OCLC locates no copies].
