Fascinating work compiling studies and materials about the history of the Talmud. Minor age-wear on binding with gilt lettering on spine partly faded. Corners and head and tail of spine slightly rubbed. Minor age-toning along paper margin. Binding in overall good to good+, interior in very good condition. Wilhelm Bacher was a 19th and early 20th century Jewish scholar and liberal rabbi. He studied languages at the University of Budapest and later Breslau as well as Talmud with Samuel Löb Brill. Later he served as rabbi in Szegedin. As a scholar Bacher authored or co-authored approximately 750 works. He also contributed to the Jewish Encyclopedia.
