on the elaborately printed billhead "Bought of Henry Tomes & Co. / Sportsmen's Warehouse / ... ," to William Case of Cleveland, Ohio, 28 July 1854. New York: Henry Tomes & Co., 1854. 4to. One-page, with an integral leaf (verso used for address). In addition to the dueling pistols, Case also purchased a "Fine Dble Bll Gun, Laminated Steel Bands, patent breeches, Gold bands, ... Box Spring triggers with screw off Guard, wrought mountings, fine heart walnut stock, [by] 'William Moore, London,' $125," referred to in a manuscript note at the bottom, signed "Henry Tomes & Co.," "The gun is made by a first rate maker & we consider it very cheap." Case (1818-1862) served as mayor of Cleveland, 1851-1852. Very good. Folded as for mailing. (#4287).
