Title page slightly detached but holding firmly. Binding in overall good- to good, interior in good+ to very good condition. Salo W. Baron was a pioneering figure in 20th century Jewish studies. When he took a position teaching Jewish history at Columbia University it was only the second such professorship in the United States. He is best known for his 18 volume work, A Social and Religious History of the Jews.

Alexander Marx taught Jewish history and served as a librarian at the Jewish Theological Seminary for some 50 years. He was one of the main people responsible for building up the Seminary library into one of the largest collections of Judaica books in the world.
