Rabelais, Renaissance humorist, using the name Aclofribas Nasier [an anagram of his name] published his first book, "Pantagruel," the start of the "Gargantua" series that was completed in four novels -- a chronicle of farce, peppered with broad popular humor mocking asceticism and oppressive religious and political forces. Generally clean and sound internally, early small initials margin of frontispiece and in margin of second title, corner wear.
