"Ibn Rushd, often Latinized as Averroes, was an Andalusian polymath and jurist who wrote about many subjects, including philosophy, theology, medicine, astronomy, physics, psychology, mathematics, Islamic jurisprudence and law, and linguistics". Harry A. Wolfson was the first chairman of a Judaic Studies Center in the United States, teaching and doing his research at Harvard. He was extremely productive and wrote works including a translation and commentary on Hasdai Crescas' Or Adonai, the philosophy of the church fathers, the repercussions of the Kalam on Judaism, and works on Spinoza, Philo, and Averroes. / Francis Howard Fobes was Professor of Latin at Amherst College. He is remembered for his texts of Aristotle and for his translations.
