1940. Very Good. Embossed faux leather over boards (10 x 7), bound with brown ribbon; contains 40 thick black leaves, 27 of which have tipped-on b/w photographs (ranging in size from 2 x 3 to 5 x 7), annotated by hand. Front board detached; slight wave to photos (from adhesive); otherwise clean and legible. More than 100 images.
This sweet little keepsake preserves the relationship between Florn Lee (who served as a Commanding Officer on the USS Meredith DD-890, May 1958 May 1960, and the USS Pocono, August 1964 May 1965) and Dot Carrigan. Different handwriting suggests that the two of them took part in its creation. Photographs are taken mostly in Ohio and California, and feature the couples families and friends, a few landscapes, two images of a ship (labeled Leo), and quite a lot of Dot looking her cutest (to stave off any temptation her man might face while at sea). Photos are accompanied by little hand-drawn cartoons, quips about Dot looking good in her swimsuit (yup, she does), the joys of eating and drinking, etc. Includes photo-folders from the Hotel Claremont (Dick Jurgens and His Orchestra played The Garden Room) and the Tonga Room of the Fairmont Hotel. Numerous photographs, including 6 Kodacolors, are laid in at the rear.
