Thick Quarto. 589p. illustrated with exceptionally nice and bold full page steel engravings of these men with most tissue guards present. This copy belong H (Harry) T. Beckwith author of the History of Rhode Island whose father, Truman Beckwith 1783-1878, is featured in the volume. He was a major businessman, banking, building, cotton and more. A gift given to the Long Island Historical Society to the Cary fund by Mrs. Cary in memory of her husband. An exceptionally heavy book bound in very sturdy green buckram, spine and all edges gilt., floral endpapers. A very nice clean, bright copy. (weighs 9 pounds).
