New York: Association Press, 1930. Second Printing, March 1930. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR on front endpage -"To Will H. Hays- In sincere appreciation of a very pleasant acquaintance, Roy E. Dickerson February 11, 1931". A wonderful ASSOCIATION COPY, Will H. Hays was notoriously the first President of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA), which under his guidance published a blacklist of actors and workers studios should not hire, inserted moral clauses into actors' contracts, and published an informal list of suggested guidelines for film producers. When the Catholic Church formed its Legion of Decency and threatened nationwide boycotts of movies, Hays installed a more formal production code, called the Hays Code( later simply "The Code"), which became the virtual law of Hollywood until the 1960s. Perhaps this book provided some of Hays' guidance while he was forming those notorious morals clauses? Lacking the dustjacket, the book is Very Good in green cloth with gilt spine titles, the top 1/4" of the spine cloth a bit frayed. Forward by Percy R. Hayward. . SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR. 2nd Printing. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Association Copy. (Inventory #: 003724)
