This work was privately printed by William Gwinn Mather, a descendant of the Mathers. A signed letter from Mather to Howard Mansfield of New York City, presenting him with this copy, is included. Also, the author has signed this copy on the title page. Increase Mather (1639-`723) was one of the most important and prolific clergymen in early New England. He was president of Harvard College, and his religious writings had an important impact on American Religious thought during the early colonial period. ANB. (Inventory #: 100936)
