by FERRER, JOSE & WILLIAM MARCHANT
New York: Random House, 1961. First Edition. Signed by the actor Jose Ferrer: “Jose Ferrer, N.Y. 5-61.” With a charming original drawing in blue ink by Mr. Ferrer at a rear blank of a woman sitting at a cafe table upon which is a bottle and several glasses, holding an umbrella in one hand and an open book in the other, wearing a large sun hat, sunglasses, a short dress, and lace-up wedge espadrilles. The drawing is signed with Ferrer’s initials “JF” and is dated “5-61.” The rear endpapers have several notes in Ferrer’s hand in pencil and ink: “Paul Worth, Library of Congress, Strip-tease, Marine Story, Cherie, Wondrous World,” and some numbers. Very good lightly used copy with some minor dampstains to the cloth and some fading to the spine in a very good bright dust jacket with a trace of edge wear. Jose Ferrer (1912 - 1992) was married to singer Rosemary Clooney (twice) and is perhaps best remembered for his starring role in Cyrano de Bergerac (1950) for which he won an Oscar. He was also nominated for Oscars for his work in the classic films Joan of Arc (1948) and Moulin Rouge (1952). Ferrer also starred as Cyrano in television and stage productions. (Inventory #: 19793E)
