Thick folio (9 1/2 x13, original cloth, gilt lettering, includes a couple of maps, 1972 pp. Binding has a little wear, bottom extremities showing as a result of shelf wear, overall binding is bright and clean, pagination a little unusual, but complete, normal aging, page 352 with tape repair, a few margin tears, but nothing significant, and not affecting text; overall a very nice copy. Henry Varnum Poor (1812-1905) started producing his railroad manual just before the Civil War. They include a wealth of information on railroad operating and financial statistics. It provides the miles operated by different railroads, and gives data on the financial their performance. These efforts in providing financial information on railroads would ultimately lead to providing credit ratings on corporates and governments.
