Gerry, departing for the U.S., instructed him to remain in Paris and to conclude pending diplomatic business with trips to the Hague and London. Tazewell, upon his "return to America, was captured by a French privateer and sent into Corunna, in Spain, from whence he traveled by land to Lisbon, at which place he embarked for the United (truncated)
