[np, 1851. 24pp, stitched, first and last leaf moderately soiled and lightly worn. Else Very Good.

An interesting Convention, because it portrays the last gasps of the Whig Party, sundered by the slavery issue and denouncing the Free Soil Party for its inroads into Whig support. The Convention, composed primarily of accomodationists with the South and hence known as 'Cotton Whigs,' views with alarm the growing "spirit of fanaticism and madness" that threatens the Union. The Address of the Convention traces the history of the Free Soil Party and its baleful effects.
