Zachary Taylor is, as one of his letters printed here assures, "A WHIG AND SHALL EVER BE DEVOTED IN INDIVIDUAL OPINION TO THE PRINCIPLES OF THAT PARTY." A "decided" Whig, he is "not ultra."
