Engraved frontispiece. [2], iv, 190, [2] pp. 1 vols. 12mo. Burned and Banned. Reprint of the famously banned and burned dirty book of 1655, whose author (variously known as Hélot, Millot, or Milliot) was burned in effigy along with all copies of the book, which is of course quite rare. But the book's very notoriety assured its survival, and numerous reprints have been issued in several languages throiughout Europe from the 17th-century through the 19th. The current reprint reproducd the text of the edition issued at "Fribourg, Roger Bontemps, 1668." Gay - Lemonnyer II, 61-62 (Inventory #: 258189)
