By Cogniot, Georges
Paris: Le Parti Communiste Francais, 1956. First edition; 5 1/2" x 8 1/4"; pp. 3-32 including text to last page; original blue and white staple-bound wraps; printed in black; two small faint "Hoover Institution" stamps to upper corner of front cover, else very minor wear; near fine or better. Georges Cogniot was a French Marxist philosopher and writer. He was a member of the Central Committee of the French Communist Party from 1936 to 1964 and served as editor in chief of the newspaper L’Humanité from 1937 to 1949. The current book contains his speech on the "Communist Party as an instrument in the fight for Socialism" delivered at the May 1956 Conference of the French Communist Party. Sub-topics include "the fight against the influences of the enemy," "the party as the vanguard of the working class," etc. Uncommon - I have not been able to find holdings at US institutions or in the trade.
