[Westchester County, N.Y.?, 1864. 4pp. Caption title, as issued. Disbound a bit roughly, lightly foxed, about Good+. Signed in type at the end by Woodworth, and sworn to by him, dated March 5, 1864.
The Woodworth Patent was the subject of controversy and litigation for decades. Mr. W. invented the machine in 1828; he and his heirs sought, as in this pamphlet, repeated extensions of the patent. Lumber merchants, carpenters, and other users opposed extension, which required them to pay royalties to the Woodworth family. Others supported the extensions, on principled grounds of protecting inventors' rights and permitting them to reap a just reward for their efforts.
OCLC 183097812 [2-NY Hist. Soc., Duke Univ. Libr.] [as of August 2024].
