Allegations of mismanagement resulted in judicial oversight of this Company beginning in 1836. Worcester was appointed Special Master Commissioner with broad powers to investigate "the affairs of said Company," especially its banking practices, to determine "whether its management is safe, and whether the standing rules relating to it have been observed faithfully." Worcester was also charged with examining the Company's investment practices and financial decisions, and determining whether the Company or any of its officers engaged in chicanery. Worcester's Report is a detailed rendering, complete with Tables, of his findings.
This is one of Norwalk's earliest imprints. According to Morgan and OCLC it is located only at the Cincinnati Historical Society and the Ohio Historical Society.
