New York: McLoughlin Bros, 1876. First Edition presumed. Decorated Cloth. Very Good. N.d., circa 1876. (Bearing an inscription from this date plus a single copy on OCLC dated as such.) [35] pages, paginated by sections, and with sixteen full pages of colored plates, some with two illustrations, other with one. Wordsworth wrote "Lucy Gray" contained herein. "Little Ann and her mamma", by Ann and Jane Taylor, is adapted from London to New York. Other poems included are "Hector the Dog", "Frisky the Squirrel", "The Kittens' Mishap", "The Robins' Christmas Eve", "The Wolf and the Seven Kids" and "Three Little Dogs", and these titles give a good hint of the content. Appropriately the inscription shows this was a Chirstmas gift. The illustrations capture our notions of High Victorian style and children's lives. This copy is mostly clean and attractive, notwithstanding wear in the corners and the spine extremities.
