Le Macchine di Munari

  • 1942
By Munari, Bruno; BRUNO MUNARI
1942. MUNARI, Bruno. Le Macchine di Munari. 16 ff., 15 colour illustrations and accompanying page of text, plus small black and white illustration and black and white frontispiece photograph of the author. Small folio, 280 x 210 mm., bound in publisher's cloth-backed, illustrated orange boards. Turin: Einaudi, 1942. One of Munari's most sought-after books, published during the war. The artist began showing his work in Milan in the late 1920s and later went on to help start the arte concreta movement. The idea for a book of these machines may have been spawned during a trip to Paris in 1933, where he met Louis Aragon and André Breton. An unusually fine copy of a fragile book. Maffei, Munari I Libri, p.56.
