Poems. A Calligraphic Manuscript.
- 1953
1953. Fine. Heavy cardstock boards (about 8.75 x 9.5 inches), bound with white ribbon; with 4 leaves, each handwritten on the verso only, offering 4 different poems. Front cover beautifully illustrated in ink and gouache, with "Poems" written in a simple calligraphy, and bordered by flowers, a butterfly, and a fairy. The lettering employed to record the poems is equally ornate. This volume is remarkable for the time and care that went into its production, as well as the skill of the artist. She collects "The Thrush's Nest" by John Clare, "Summer Sun" and "The Moon" by Robert Louis Stevenson, and "The Grasshopper and Cricket" from the sonnets of John Keats.
