Paris: Librairie Delagrave, 1930. Hardcover. New improved edition (eight thousand); 4 1/2 x 7; pp. [7], 8-80; stiff pictorial cardboard wraps; small closed cut to tail of spine; faint age-toning along margins of covers; few small spots to lower corner of front cover; illustrated with full-page and in-line engravings (including a 2-page frontis) and photographs; overall very good. A charming book on 'Les Invalides' (also known as 'The National Residence of the Invalids') in Paris. Includes various chapters on The Esplanade, The Church, The Museum, etc. The complex of buildings, including a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans was completed in 1708 under the initiation of Louis XIV. Various historic events took place there some of which were the entombment of Napoleon in 1840 and the infamous degradation of Captain Alfred Dreyfus in 1894. Uncommon in the trade.
