A linguist, historian and bibliographer - he was the first Rector of Sofia University, Secretary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and one of the founders of the Tourist Movement in Bulgaria. He was unsurpassed in his contributing to enrichment and understanding of the Bulgarian language.
