A rare little item, dramatizing the rending of Hennepin County Republicans during the campaign of 1868. The incumbent, Ignatius Donnelly, was challenged in "a bolting convention" which "nominated Gen. L.F. Hubbard, of Red Wing, for Congress." The rivalry, a bitter one, required police intervention to quell "WIDE SPREAD DISSENSION AND DISORDER."
