Harry Tracy (1875-1902) specialized in robbery and theft but soon graduated to murder first of a posse man, Valentine Hay in 1898. Tracy and an accomplice were captured but they escaped until recaptured and ended up in Oregon State Penitentiary. He escaped with fellow convict David Merrill in 1902 killing three corrections officers and three civilians in the process. He killed his partner Merrill and on July 3, 1902 he set up an ambush killing a detective and deputy sheriff during a shootout. Taking hostages and killing two other posse members he was corned and wounded and finally committed suicide to avoid capture. Bruce Dern played the part of Tracy in the 1982 film Harry Tracy, Desperado. Bound in dark brown morocco lettered in gilt. Fine. (Inventory #: 016446)
