Historical romance of the Incas, told by Marmontel (1723-99), friend and disciple of Voltaire and a prolific, if not talented writer on various topics. First published in Paris by Lacombe the previous year. Sabin 44652 does not note this edition; Brunet VIII, 953, on the first edition: "Les amateurs qui payent ce roman un grand prix méritent d'être condamnés à le lire" i.e. "Any collector who pays a large price for this novel deserves to be forced to read it").
