The most important history of Vermont newspapers from the 1780's when there were three to the greatest period of expansion in the 1880's when there were with the advent of technology 59. By 1905 there were less than 10. Besides listing all of the early presses, there are photographs of the editors, examples of the great varieties of typeface (including those with logos), the subjects of interest in the era. Besides domestic affairs and agriculture, the issue regarding slavery and the Civil War were in the period of expansion so that four new papers came out during the war.
