A well-written biography of Simon Petliura - controversial Ukrainian journalist, writer, politician, and national leader. Called by some "freedom fighter who tried to protect Jews" and by others a "bloody anti-Soviet terrorist' - he was assassinated in 1926 in Paris by Russian anarchist Sholom Schwartzbard. The author, Vasil Khomich Prokhoda, was an Army Colonel, social activist, and writer.
