Philadelphia: United States Job Printing Office, 1840. Softbound. Good. Some soiling and old folds to cover corners. Yellow printed thin sewn wraps. Engraved frontispiece, no title-page. 12 pp. Date is approximate. An item of the utmost rarity. The printer is listed, but no date or author(ess) mentioned. The plate can be imagined to have the characters arranged in a fashion similar to how they are arranged in the exhibition, and each individual is numbered for reference to the text. Mush lofty text and description of the trial and individuals, with the most text reserved for Our Savior, of course. The plate is titled "The Judgment Hall." There is no signature present on it. Certainly an item worthy of more research. William Reese offers a similar item mentioning the 23 figures and other like items, and dates it to circa 1865, from Portland (Maine) . This item certainly predates that by at least 25 years judging from the engraving and fonts. A similar item is found in Worldcat and is printed in Boston circa 1843, and I hypothesize that this item represents an earlier exhibition of part of what was exhibited in Boston several years later.
