Bouchaud (1719-1804) was jurist and professor of law at the Collège Royal. He contributed a number of the legal articles to the Encyclopédie. In addition to his books on legal topics he wrote this, and another book of literary criticism, Essai sur la poésie rhythmique (1763). He also translated Frances Brooke's Julia Mandeville from the English, and the plays of Apostolo Zeno from the Italian. (Inventory #: 12940)
