Glasgow: David Bryce and Son, 1894. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Very good. Thick 4to. xvi, 316pp. Index. Tan buckram printed in black on the spine and in black and gilt on the upper board. Top edge gilt. Patterned endpapers. Printed in red and black.

The first part (text) is illustrated with a frontispiece and numerous black and white facsimiles.

The second part is the "New Hieroglyphic Bible Told in Stories by Frederick A. Laing" The 184 page Bible is printed in color: the leaves (approximately 2 by 3 inches) are mounted four to a page on heavy stock attached to linen guards.

Traces of soil to the top and bottom edges of the book, else this is in near fine condition and is indeed a very nice copy. With the scarce printed linen dustwrapper: blue linen printed in black and mounted to card stock. The jacket is a bit soiled, but still quite presentable and a very early exemplar of a printed cloth dustwrapper.
