Zutphania Comitatus.

  • Amsterdam: , c1650.
By Blaeu, Willem.

Single page map, large single folio (11" x 19 1/2"), and some coloring, small cartouche in upper left corner. Unclear when coloring was done, map ends at neat line on what should be the right margin (no real right margin for the map, one edge a little rough, but not significant, normal aging and browning, print on the reverse; overall about very good. Willem Blaeu (1571-1638) was the founder of one of the great cartographic publishing dynasties, which produced some of the best maps of the period. Included in his body of work was a wonderful series of county maps. This map is a county map of Zutphen in Gelderland, a province in the Netherlands. The map appears to illustrate the eastern part of the province and part of Germany. Van De Gohm p. 104-106.
