The palette is the artwork is tenebrous like pre-Provincal van Gogh, and the style is deliberately primitive as one finds with other post-Impressionists, among them Vlaminck, Vuillard, etc. Through these means Tijtgat conveys a sense of nostalgia, distance and loss towards the gay subject matter. The folder cover is lightly soiled. The contents are clean and fresh.
