Paris: Andre Balland et Jacques Lecat, 1966. Hardcover. Fine. Full leather case, "G. A. / 4" stamped in gilt on spine; contains facsimiles of 22 pieces of Apollinaire ephemera (photos, postcards, letters, etc.) as well as a card describing each item. Silk interior of leather case just a little frayed and sunned, otherwise case and all items are fine.
An interesting little treasure chest of Apollinaire (1880-1918), the French poet, playwright, short story writer, novelist, and art critic of Polish descent. It includes facsimiles of handwritten letters and postcards (maintaining details such as ink spots and postmarks), as well as a collotype reproduction of Picasso's sketch of "Don Guillermo," scarce even in facsimile, and utterly charming, as Apollinaire was a great defender of Cubism.
